there basicall the same design as the long strip lights but made smaller.they use less electricity than std bulbs whilst giving of more light for less watts.

Just do some research on how fluorescent lighting and LEDs work.

bottom line is that they lose less energy to heat. In an incandescent bulb, a lot (I believe around 90%) of the electrical energy going into the bulb is lost as heat and only 10% produces light.

and LEDs are simply more efficient and produce less heat.

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be converted into another form.

bulbs are putting out lots of light energy and very little heat energy compared to incandescent bulbs so there isn't energy being used for heat which you don't want/need.

I don't have the science.

the warnings. Jaysus.

contain Mercury.

China makes them.

US removed Mercury years ago from thermometers.

warnings are to evacuate the room if one is broken.

up the pieces with "Tape". Do not touch with hands. Do not Vacuum.

cleaning small pieces with "Tape". Do not inhale.

of Mercury Poisoning. A post here stated that one exploded.

I'm not sure.

i know is that they are full of mercury and if they fall and break you shouldn't touch them with your bare hands.

should also clean the area thoroughly.

um. yeah.

use 20 watts to produce the same candlepower or 'lumens' as a 60 watt incandescent.

electricity used less money spent.etc. a much more interesting question to me is why would the government mandate a change to a poisonous lightbulb? the c.f.l. is a toxic hazard when broken, as it is full of MERCURY.

does the government want us dead? WHY!

an energy saving bulb use less electricity than a conventional bulb example a energy bulb uses 25 watts of electricity to give the sam amount of light as a 100 watt conventonal bulb energy saving bulbs are either LED( light emmiting diode) or more commonly flourescent which contain gasit takes less electricity to heat the gas giving more light per watt of electricity than a normal light bulb. a watt is a unit of electricity the more watts used the more electricity being used.

on some of your household appliances and you will find out how much each different appliance uses compare your kettle to a television the average kettle uses 2000 watts to 3000 watts or 2 to 3 kilowatts (KW) the average television uses 100 to 150 watts.

The short answer: Plain old incandescent bulbs put out a lot of useless infrared radiation, which produces no light and lots of heat. Florescent bulbs put out similar visible light but without the infrared radiation.

last longer because an internal gas ionize unlike an Edison bulb whose filament literally burns up from the trace amount of oxygen that gets trapped in the bulb during manufacturing.
