you have different requirements because you are eating for not only yourself but your baby.
energy requirements will change through pregnancy because at the first stage of pregnancy the baby is growing more rapidly and so will need more nutrition to grow but as the foetus turns into a fully formed baby the baby still needs to grow to an average size so will still need nutrition but not as much as at the start of pregnancy.
